Raise the Bar is an exciting new program designed to improve the quality of intramural/house league programs in elementary and secondary schools across Ontario. Supported by the Ministry of Health Promotion, Raise the Bar will provide schools with resources and assistance in the development of these programs. The phrase 'raise the bar' is an expression used to convey the idea of gradually setting the accepted minimum standard higher in order to reach an objective of excellence. The objective behind Raise the Bar is to set the minimum standard higher in health and physical education and athletic programs by offering more inclusive physical activity and sport programs. The objective of excellence will be reached when we offer programs that every student can participate in.
At a time when childhood/teen obesity is at an all - time high, we need to engage students more than ever in our physical activity programs.
As of September 2009, Raise the Bar has expanded its' mandate to include injury prevention, tobacco, and sex education. Raise the Bar will be providing educators with easy to use resources to assist in the delivery of these very important health topics. More detailed information will be available soon on the website. To arrange a meeting or workshop see the 'program link' for the contact information. If you are interested in the student leadership conferences please see the conference link.
