STUDENT LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE Raise the Bar is pleased to announce dates for the 2008 student leadership conferences. Building on the success of the inaugural conference in 2007, Raise the Bar is having two conferences - Thursday, October 23, 2008 for elementary school teachers and students; and Thursday November 6, 2008 for secondary school teachers and students. The goal of the conference is to motivate and educate students about intramural program possibilities in their schools. Students play a key role in the delivery and sustainability. of intramural programs and it is important that we empower them in this role. This conference will be a full day physical activity in the morning followed by discussions and small group work in the afternoon. At the end of the day, students and staff will be equipped with the knowledge and tools to implement intramural programs in their schools. Schools are encouraged to send three students. These students should be school leaders who will play a key role in the development of your intramural program. All students must be ready to take part in the physical activity component of the conference. They have the option of wearing their physical activity clothes to the conference or they can change in the gymnasium at St. James Catholic High School. Students must be accompanied by at least one staff member. Please complete the registration form and return by: Friday October 17 , 2008 for elementary schools Friday October 31, 2008 for secondary schools The cost of the conference is $50.00 per school. Please make cheques payable to The Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology. Return the registration via fax 519.824.3088 attention to Steve Friesen. All participants will receive a Raise the Bar conference t-shirt. In addition, snacks and meals will be provided. We have finances in place to assist some schools in paying for travel and hotel accommodations. Priority will be given to schools travelling great distances. If you wish financial assistance, please call or email Steve Friesen.
