Intramural Committee:
Made up of staff, administration and students.
Hold term meetings to discuss and evaluate the intramural program.
Choose the monthly activities being played- including the rules and safety procedures.
Create the schedules and teams.
Track and present the results to the student body (along with our grade 8 captains).
Create the Intramural Motto and the theme of the year (e.g. this year’s theme is Husky Heroes; last year’s was a Survivor theme – Participate, Play, Persevere).

Structure of the Program:

  1. Each member of our school belongs to a house league team: students from grade JK to grade 8, classroom teachers, educational assistants, administration and custodians. Only grades 1-8 participate in the game portion of house leagues.
  2. There are 10 teams each with their own colour and each member receives a t-shirt in their team colour with the year’s intramural theme on it.
  3. Grade 8 students are the captains. They are responsible to help set up and run the gym activities and encourage all students to participate.
  4. Each team has teacher-advisors. Supervision of games at recesses is done by the house league committee (teachers).
  5. Gym activities for the primary grades are played in the a.m. recess, junior grades in the p.m. recess and senior grades during lunch recess.
  6. Each team member tries to collect as many points as possible for the respective team. Ways of earning points includes: A) Classroom - the teacher's decision (e.g. homework completion, good behaviour).
    B) Gym activities- Fair play =10 pts
    Cooperation=10 pts
    Wearing house league shirts to daily intramurals= 10 pts
    Win=5pts
    Tie=3 pts
    Loss= 1 pt
    Participation= 1 pt
    C) Special Days - school colour days (hat days, baseball days, school spirit days)
    Environmental activities – this could include class activities such as garbageless lunch etc.
    • pop tabs (to help build wheelchairs)
    • Zehrs receipts
    • stamps (for the needy)
  7. All extra points (from your class) are handed in at the end of each month to a house league coordinator.
  8. Standings are announced by announcements (on classroom TVs) or at Term Assemblies.
  9. Each classroom teacher is given a team list and schedule.
  10. At the end of the year, the team with the most points has the members’ names printed on our school’s “Husky Cup”.
